Development of novel in vitro and in vivo models to investigate the infertility problems of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition that affects a women’s hormone levels as such that women with PCOS produce higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones. This hormone imbalance will have consequences on the pregnancy rate of PCOS patients. In this PhD program, we aim to establish novel in vitro and in vivo models to investigate the molecular signalling pathway in patients diagnosed for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Next, this study aims to develop endometrial organoids of healthy and PCOS patients. The outcome of this PhD project is expected to give novel insights in the implantation process of PCOS patients.
