REDUCING LABOUR MARKET DISCRIMINATION IN THE FLEMISH SECTORS: ACADEMIC VISION AND INSTRUMENTS

In the resolution on combating discrimination and racism in society, which was adopted by the Flemish Parliament on 10 June 2020, the Flemish government is asked, among other things with regard to the fight against racism and discrimination in the labour market, to further focus on self-regulation by the sectors. For work and the social economy, the decision was taken within the Flemish government (12 June 2020) to further strengthen the path of awareness raising and self-regulation by the sectors.

Through this assignment, we aim to develop an independent and academic monitoring system of hiring discrimination that is applicable and can be embedded in the sectoral approach. In order to substantiate our advice, we reviewed the insights from recent scientific research.
