Towards smart ventilation in midsized building (SMART VENTILATION)
The design of ventilation systems in medium-sized buildings, such as apartment blocks, schools, and smaller healthcare facilities and office buildings, is often conservative and inefficient. There is currently no method that selects the most optimal system and corresponding layout in a specific building on the basis of a coherent series of indicators.
And that is exactly what this project wants to do: develop an approach that optimizes the performance of the ventilation throughout its entire life cycle. This method evaluates the performance of the ventilation system based on indicators such as indoor air quality, energy consumption, comfort, maintenance, robustness, acoustics, etc. In this way the project contributes to the energy efficiency of buildings and their systems.
