XCT - KU Leuven X-ray Computed Tomography Core Facility (XCT)

The KU Leuven XCT core facility manages different micro- and nanofocus X-ray computed tomography systems and has several in-situ loading stages for testing materials to study the response and damage development in materials (4D XCT). This infrastructure allows to understand and optimize the hierarchical structure of materials. The XCT data are used to model the material performance and to optimize production processes, leading to new developments in different application areas. Materials being investigated encompass biomaterials, composite materials, geopolymers, building materials, food products, microelectronics, biological materials and tissues, geological samples, raw and engineered materials.
