The identification and adjustment of biomechanical risk factors for lower limb overuse injuries after landing in jump related sports

Lower extremity overuse injuries are common in athletes participating in sports with repeated bouts of landing. Biomechanical alterations during landing may be associated with these type of injuries. Our recent systematic review with meta-analysis shows that a stiffer landing pattern and more compensatory movements during landing are potential risk factors for developing overuse injuries. To gain more insight in the risk factors of overuse injuries, more high quality prospective research and full body kinematic analysis are needed.
