Sabbatical Marneffe Monique: Tandem research and deepening of courses

05030112: “Second Language learning” approach I intend to organize a symposium with all KU Leuven colleagues who use tandem to stimulate the learning of oral communication. In my previous publications, I have focused on the advantages and disadvantages of lingua receptiva as a tandem start modality (everyone speaks their mother tongue and tries to understand the other). I also compared the students' perceptions about different types of tasks: micro-tasking-macro-tasking - free conversations or conversations focused on intercultural themes I plan to present a contribution at the VIOT colloquium (UGent) in January 2021 https://www.viot2021.ugent.be/?fbclid=IwAR0Fh960C154y1Rjld9jf-ieuCDon7RXrlvKdJIEbJq3MsQoiG2Vef_yWQ. The theme is "Language proficiency makes the difference". My research proposal will focus on the way students correct each other. I will analyze it based on conversational voice analysis and on surveys in which students explain their learning practice. I also plan to ask KU Leuven colleagues (Tandem users) to investigate how the learners help each other. The results could be one of the themes of the symposium and provide information for a possible tandem methodological guide (Good Practice). In addition, an online publication of the guide would be a tool for work and reflection for the French teacher.
