Tb-IRMA-V: Production of radioactive terbium ion beams for medical applications with the isotope separation online technique

In this project, the Versatile Arc Discharge and Laser Ion Source (VADLIS) will be studied and characterized, either with stable isotopes at the Leuven Isotope Separator (LIS) or with radioactive isotopes at the CERN MEDICIS facility, with the final aim of optimizing the production of medically relevant terbium isotopes within the Tb-IRMA-V project (KU Leuven, SCK CEN, CERN). These activities will include construction and assembly of experimental equipment, commissioning and operation of large infrastructures, and finally collection, analysis, and critical interpretation of performance data from the ion source.
