Project

Flore de Gand 3

The project brings a reconstruction of 19th-century horticulture in the Ghent region starting from three historical herbariums (Charles Van Hoorebeke, Aimé MacLeod, Julius MacLeod), archival documents and (photo)graphic materials. Advanced digital technology is used to validate, digitalize, stock sustainably and link all data. The project involves the integration of several disciplines (archival sciences, botany, engineering sciences, history) and the co-creation by citizens. The outcomes are presented to the heritage community by means of several platforms, workshops and public events.
