Analysis and design of an innovative hybrid excitation brushless DC starter/generator

An innovative hybrid excitation brushless DC starter/generator (HEBLSG), consisting of an axially-parallel permanent magnet machine part and a flux modulation machine part, is proposed. The proposed topology is promising for on-board dc power generation systems because of excellent regulating properties and low demagnetization risks. The project target is to develop a design methodology and prototypes for this HEBLSG generator topology.
