An analysis of the mechanisms underlying the impact of polycentric spatial structure on the economic efficiency of urban agglomerations

‘Urban polycentricity’ is a key concept in geographical research, although its meaning and benefits often remain unclear. This research will conduct empirical analyses on changes in polycentric structures in urban agglomerations across China. We will compare their degree of polycentricity, integration and dispersion, and apply spatial-econometric methods to explore
their relationships in explaining spatial differences in economic efficiency.
