Project

Targeting of vaccine antigens to aminopeptidase N to elicit protective intestinal immunity (MucoVac)

APN targeting is a novel route to deliver molecules to the intestinal immune system. This project builds further on previously generated data and aims to deliver a proof of concept for the induction of protective immunity against a bacterial gut pathogen upon oral administration of APN-targeted antibody fusion constructs to piglets. Moreover, we aim to optimise the immunisation regime and compare the efficacy of this oral vaccine to the current commercial porcine ETEC vaccine. Finally, this project aims to explore the translation of this APN-targeted vaccine to other species. The generated data will be used to strenghten and to broaden patent claims and to increase the valorisation potential.
