Experimental and numerical evaluation of textile reinforced cement (TRC) sandwich walls in compression: A geometrical study

Journal Contribution - Journal Article

Research on the loadbearing behaviour of textile reinforced cement sandwich panels is limited and neglects situations where the core or adherence is (partially) lost. This paper presents an exhaustive numerical and experimental study comprising centrical and eccentrical compression tests on real-scale TRC sandwich walls with and without core. In the latter case, the influence of pin-connectors and of the geometry of the loaded face were evaluated. Initial imperfections had a significant impact on the compressive behaviour of the panels. While connectors ensured some composite action for panels without core, the most efficient way to increase the capacity was integrating column in the loaded face.
