Investigation of wideband power efficient PA topologies

This research focuses on the investigation of different PA topologies for wideband power efficient solutions that exceed the state-of-the-art performance. This goal will be pursued in two different approaches. On the one hand, Doherty PAs have outstanding efficiency performances but are extremely challenging to design for wide bandwidths and optimize at mmWave. On the other hand, broadband Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA) will be investigated to integrate various functions, provide single chip solutions and reduce the switching losses, which effectively translates into better power efficiency and reduced system complexity.
