PIRLS 2021 in Flanders. (PIRLS 2019-2023)

KU Leuven and UGent are combining their experience and substantive and methodological expertise to carry out the Flemish participation in the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study 2021. First, a correct follow-up of the international guidelines and maximizing the response rate are central. This will be followed by extensive reporting on the reading performance of fourth graders in Flanders with attention to evolutions and correlations at system, school, class and pupil level. Mixed-methods research into the pedagogical-didactical actions of teachers, input from a resonance group and various knowledge-sharing initiatives increase the relevance of this project for policy and practice.
