Elaboration of a reactive assessment framework for priority water use during water scarcity (WATERSCHAARSTE)

The focus of this study is on directly practicable water-limiting measures in times of water scarcity. It is not the intention to also include proactive measures in this study (eg crop selection, switching from water cooling to air cooling). On the other hand, measures can be considered for the generic assessment framework that require certain prior investments (eg installation of pumps for pumping back water at locks). In the area-specific implementation, it will then have to be tested to what extent these types of measures are relevant to the study area. It is also the intention of the study to look specifically for new promising potential measures, but on the other hand it is possible to include measures that are not common, that require (limited) adjustments to regulatory frameworks or that require relatively limited preparatory investments or adjustments.
