Project

Evaluation of value of care delivered to patients with critical limb ischemia

A joint evaluation project by UZ Leuven and the LUMC on the costs and quality of care delivered to patients with critical limb ischemia. Within this project, existing hospital registrations are used. Research will be conducted to evaluate the outcomes and costs of two treatment options in patients with critical limb ischemia, namely continuous revascularization or direct amputation. Predictors to use in a risk score system and decision making will be identified. In addition, research will be performed on decision making regarding the treatment among Dutch and Belgian vascular surgeons. A prospective study is conducted among patients to evaluate into which extend they experience sufficient gain in their daily lives as a result of the intervention.
