EF63 - Survey informal care in Flanders (SWVG-EF 63)

From a policy perspective, the importance attached to informal care is increasing due to social and demographic changes. Informal care can be understood as all care and support that is not provided by professionals and is not reimbursed as professional work. In practice, there are different forms of informal care in which three circles can be distinguished: (1) self-care, (2) the care we give to others and (3) the care within the community. The central aim of this research is to obtain a recurring numerical picture of various informal forms of care among Flemish people aged 18 and older. To determine changes over time, the aim is to repeat this survey survey every 4 to 5 years. We focus on informal care as a process, which means that we map out the determinants of providing and receiving (potential) informal help, current practices and consequences.
