Reversal of protein-losing enteropathy following surgical revision of a jejunal Roux-en-Y loop after liver transplantation: Look for lymphangiectasia!

Journal Contribution - Journal Article

Protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) following liver transplantation has been predominantly attributed to lymphovascular events, such as stenosis of the suprahepatic caval anastomosis and hepatic vein stenosis1,2,3 . In the July issue of American Journal of Transplantation, Holvast et al. described a first case of focal PLE at the Roux-en-Y jejunal loop following liver transplantion4 . In their well-documented case, successful surgical revision was performed by resection of the jejunal loop and creation of a new hepaticojejunostomy.
