Studying the interaction between synaptic loss, neuroinflammation and amyloid pathology in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia, with a high prevalence in the elderly population. Amyloid pathology and inflammatory cascades, which show toxic effects at the synapses, have been implied as possible driving forces behind AD. Gaining a deeper insight in these early events is crucial for a better understanding of the mechanisms that drive AD progression.
