Project

From non-reactive to reactive wetting at high temperature

The Multiple Material Additive Manufacturing (MMAM) technology can produce multi metallic material parts that have high performance and desired properties in important locations. This research mainly aims to achieve additive manufacturing of multiple metallic materials through modified selective laser melting system. In the research, a hybrid system combining the traditional powder bed delivery mechanism, an ultrasonic assisted powder dispensing system and a selective material removal system will be designed. A powerful computer-aided design system for multiple material pre-processing will also be designed to identify the type of materials from region to region in a part. The processing parameters will be investigated, and component characteristics and the associated mechanisms of multi metallic material parts produced by the special system will also be discussed.
