Water management

The primary purpose of the assignment is to find out whether there is sufficient water available for shipping on Flemish waterways in the future, taking into account the water demand of other users (agriculture, nature, industry, drinking water production), climate change and an increase in transport over the water. The focus of the research is on the Flemish navigable waterways. Furthermore, the research should also examine which measures can be taken to limit the impact of water scarcity on the waterways as much as possible (eg additional pumps, construction of catchment basins). In the first instance, the focus is on measures in which the Vlaamse Waterweg itself can play a determining role
