Project

Generation Of cross border PanEuropean Geospatial Datasets and Services (GO-PEG)

The main objective of the Action is to provide access to harmonized thematic open dataset(s) and their corresponding metadata in the areas of environment, emergency, and disaster management. The starting point will be existing spatial (and related)datasets from INSPIRE and from existing spatial data infrastructures in the Member States. These datasets are published by the Member States in their national or thematic geoportals and are accesssible through the European Open Data portal. The datasets will be harmonized in terms of data content, level of detail, data structure, vocabularies and license conditions and each dataset will have a cross-border geographical coverage involving five EU Member States (Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain and Italy). The results will be made available through the European Data Portal and documented through metadata in the appropriate harvested catalogues.

The action will result in clusters of datasets within the mentioned themes and covering the five selected countries. These will be made accessible by web services to allow users to discover, view and download the data.

More specifically, the Action will: engage stakeholders (experts, data providers); define detailes data-use scenarios with a qualitative and quantitative cost-benefit analysis; perform an in-depth data assessment; assess and extend data models such as the INSPIRE specifications; perform iterative data processing; apply innovative data transformations and provision technologies for optimal data usability; collect feedback from data providers and users: and identify 'lessons learnt' to be applied to other areas and datasets.
