Innovative ultrasound methods for the assessment of the effect of obesity and weight loss on the kidneys in spontaneous obese pet dogs

In humans, obesity-related kidney disease tends to be an under-recognized problem. In this canine study, quantitative contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and elastography, correlated with other renal function tests, will be used to determine the effects of obesity on renal function. Subsequently, the therapeutic effects of weight loss and omega-3 nutritional
management on renal function in obese dogs will be evaluated.
