This doctoral thesis, forms part of the research funded by the 'Market Analysis of Biologics and Biosimilars following Loss of Exclusivity (MABEL) Fund' and it will examine multiple health economic aspects of off-patent medicines in Europe. This body of research will provide empirical evidence to support market access and uptake, incentives and policies affecting off-patent medicines for an efficient allocation of health care resources. Findings generated in this dissertation will give a wider view of off-patent medicines to all health care stakeholders, supporting long-term sustainability of off-patent medicine markets. The dissertation will be carried out from a multidisciplinary perspective, requiring collaboration with diverse health care providers, regulators, health care payers, pharmaceutical industry, and patient organisations.
