Exercise therapy with the support of biofeedback to strengthen the intrinsic foot muscles in older adults to prevent falling

Falling is a common problem among older adults with a major societal impact. Intrinsic foot muscles are expected to play an important role in balance and gait in older adults, which is related to the risk of falling. Older adults, which have weaker intrinsic foot muscles, may benefit from a biofeedback exercise program to strengthen the intrinsic foot muscles. The aim of this research project is to achieve better fall prevention for this target group through a better understanding of the role of the intrinsic foot muscles in balance and gait in older adults.
