Leave a light on: towards multiplexed luminometric characterization and detection of new psychoactive substances. (Licht in het donker)

We present an innovative bioassay that casts light upon the pharmacology and toxicity of new psychoactive substances (NPS). By coupling distinct signaling pathways to the functional complementation of two luciferases, different colors of light are emitted. Secondly, this project aims at multiplexed NPS detection. We propose an activity-based assay in which color-shifted nanoluciferases generate distinctly colored light upon receptor activation.
