The relation between neighbourhood watches and the crime number

Neighborhood information networks (BINs) have a place in the integral and integrated security policy. Citizen participation and therefore also BINs are an important part of the local safety and prevention policy (see also the Ministerial Circular letter on the Neighborhood Information Networks of 28 February 2019). The question arises to what extent these BINs have (positive) consequences for the crime numbers. Although an impact study on this question is complex and takes a long time, we aim to investigate whether there is a connection between the crime numbers and the presence of a BIN and, if so, what the nature and intensity of this connection is.
