Coupling physical and chemical characteristics of ternary binders with concrete performance on workability, strength and durability.

The PhD project aims to investigate the physical and chemical characteristics of ternary binders (such as cement + blast furnace + limestone) with concrete performance on workability, strength and durability. The physical and chemical characteristics of the binders will be firstly analyzed in detail to select the most suitable materials for concrete mixtures. Secondly, the action degree and mechanism of the binary/ternary binders will be scientifically substantiated. Then, the workability, setting and hardening of mortars with binary and ternary binder systems will be tested by advanced techniques so as to get a suitable mix proportion. Finally, linking physical and chemical properties of the materials and mix design parameters to the performances (workability, strength and durability) of concrete mixture.
