Ergodicity-breaking many-body phases

Recently there has been a lot of interest in robust phases of matter where thermalization and transport are very slow or even absent (localization). Sometimes the phenomenon is accompanied by prethermalization, apparent approach to a quasistationary steady state that is not the eventual equilibrium state. Moreover, these phases seem to be more robust and prevalent than the corresponding phenomena in classical physics, for example spin glasses and structural glasses. In this thesis we will investigate these notions further and we try to construct universally applicable theories.
