Project

Printed thermoelectric generators

The main goal of this research is to develop printed thermoelectric energy harvesters for integration on wearable systems. Different thermoelectric benchmark materials (both inorganic and organic) that can be processed from solution will be first formulated as printable inks. We will then characterize the thermal and electrical properties of such materials. Following, we will take advantage of the precision and versatility of additive manufacturing techniques, namely direct ink writing and selective laser sintering of blade-coated films, to fine-pattern the materials on flexible substrates. The process and layout will be optimized to fabricate performing thermoelectric generators on foil.
