Legal study on the protection of, and payment for, 'ecosystem services' (R-3514)

In this project the legal framework for the protection of and payment for ecosystem services is researched. Ecosystem services are the services that ecosystems, such as forests and rivers, deliver to us (food, water, timber, climate control, pollination, oxygen production, recreation,...). 60% of the ecosystem services have degraded over the past 50 years. Governments are more and more aware of the importance of ecosystems and want to stop the loss of ecosystems and ecosystem services.
