Durable and functional packaging (R-4821)

Companies in various Flemish industries , including the food industry , packaging industry, waste management organizations ... are faced with the demand for sustainable packaging concepts . This can handle about both bio-based and recycled materials . When these materials are used to replace the current petroleum based packaging materials , this has consequences for the entire chain of packaged food . The project wishes to focus on three subprojects for which there is a great demand in the companies. The first project investigates the optimization of the closing ( sealing)of packaging . The second project deals with bio-based packaging for heating applications . Finally, in a third pillar, this project intends to draft procedures ( with GMP Guide) for the development of sustainable and functional packaging that should allow companies to bring food secure containers on the market.
