Grieving for Lost Children, Pagan and Christian

Book Contribution - Chapter

In this contribution, I compare expressions of griefs in Christian and pagan sources, especially commemorative epigrams. There was a great deal of continuity over the period of the first few centuries of thbis era; a strong tradition of commemoration of the young which resonated with people of different cultures and religions, dealing with the impact of massive infant and child mortality.
