Fimic place and space in parisian suburbs:

Book Contribution - Chapter

Subtitle:Kassovitz' La Haine (1995) versus Dumont's Hadewych (2010)
La Haine by Matthieu Kassovitz, shot in 1994, gave rise to the genre "film on the suburbs". Hadewych by Bruno Dumont focussed on the same topic some fifteen years later, in 2010. In the light of Thomas Guenolé's "Les jeunes de banlieue mangent-ils des enfants?", I show how the mythical and typical side of terror is realised more when terror is unreal and remote. Of course this hypothesis, which proves true for the feature films presented here, should tend to be confirmed for a more consistent set of movies.
