On the road to real chain responsibility in the public sector: Human rights due diligence approach at university institutions and hospitals. (HRDD)

Since the publication of the UN guidelines on human rights and business in 2011 and the emergence of the human rights due diligence (HRDD) concept, the international debate has gained momentum. Where the emergence of HRDD in other countries acts as a catalyst for changes in business operations and policy regarding companies and human rights, the impact in Flanders (and Belgium) remains limited for the time being. This project responds to this gap by starting up an HRDD process with two of the largest non-profit organizations and knowledge institutions in Flanders: KU Leuven and UZ Leuven.
