Where police patrol: Preventing crime through effective police patrol strategies? (Waar politie patrouilleert)

The success of routine police patrol in deterring crime is unclear and existing police patrol routing strategies are naive. Developing and implementing effective police patrol transcends the boundaries of criminology and geography. Here, we adopt an interdisciplinary approach to police patrol and use police patrol vehicle movement data to evaluate police patrol efficacy and develop complex police patrol routing algorithms.
