Project

Fast Growing Regions in Bio/Nantech Industries (N4H)

The specific objective of this project is to analyze the performance of biotech clusters in Spain, Europe, North America an de Rest of the World by means of patent data and the underlying texture (firms, research institures, academia,...):

*to analyze if the technological development (patents) of the Spanish biotech companies goes in line with their economic growth.

*to identify whether Spanish biotech companies are able to achieve growth without being involved in patenting

*in that case, we could try to explain how they do it, that is to identify if are are some other growth trajectories not linked to technological development

In the first phase of the project, we will only focus on one region, Andalusia, to be able to analyze it in details and afterwards we can use the same model to study other Spanish regions and finally to make the comparison between them and draw on overall picture of technological achievements of Spanish biotech industry.
