  • Research Expertise:My research mainly focusses on translational studies in pediatrics where I emphasize on: Obstructive sleep apnea, Obesity and the metabolic syndrome, Bronchopulmonary dysplasia
  • Keywords:OBESITY, SLEEP APNEA, HYPOXIA, PEDIATRICS, ENDOTHELIAL DYSFUNCTION, Biomedical sciences (incl. biochemistry)
  • Disciplines:Cardiac and vascular medicine, Endocrinology and metabolic diseases, Paediatrics and neonatology, Respiratory medicine, Other translational sciences, Hepatology
  • Research techniques:Our research group has extensive experience in research with animals. In context of a research project on the role of adipose tissue hypoxia in obesity and obstructive sleep apnea the following techniques are available: - Mice model for obesity (high fat high fructose diet) - In vivo hypoxia measurements - In vivo glucose and insulin measurements Also, extensive experience in (multicenter) clinical research is present. Among others, there is experience in the following measurement methods: Peripheral Arterial Tonometry (EndoPAT); body composition measurements; sleep studies. Routine techniques possible in the Lab. of Experimental Medicine and Pediatrics are i.a. ELISA, qPCR, Western Blot, …
  • Users of research expertise:Basic and clinical researchers interested in pediatrics, sleep, endothelial function, hypoxia, ...
