Effective Spectrum Sensing Enabling Communication and Economical Stimulation, towards (co-)operating concepts: ESSENCES (IWT470)

The accelerated deployment of broadband personal communication devices causes an increasing spectrum scarcity, whereas spectrum occupancy measurements show that many of the current licensed bands are largely underused. The need for a more flexible use of the spectrum is currently recognized by the major regulatory/standardization bodies. Worldwide, we currently see some spectrum opening up for more flexible access. This project focuses both on the main technical and regulatory challenges to achieve flexible spectrum use.
