Pre-partner programma (2012): Network University cooperation: Network UCLV (Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de las Villas (Cuba). (VLIR260)
In a country as Cuba and after more than 10 years of cooperation, the country strategy identified ICT for development as a transversal domain of great interest for deepening of national Cuban university cooperation and participation in regional, international networks. Through the creation of a 'ICT for development-network and bringing together a series of related efforts of the successful IUC-programme (2003-2012) VLIR-UOS hopes to extend its impact in the country.
An ICT Network programme, to be coordinated by Universidad Santa Clara de las Vilas, was created around the theme of ICT. The cooperation network is an academic programme that emphasizes on human capacity building through high-impact researches pertinent to economic and social priorities of the country, all related to ICT. 3 subprojects were defined focusing on ICT systems and management, ICT support in educational processes and knowledge management and research in ICT related sciences (RESICT) around country-strategic priority areas. The Network programme will group the knowledge and know-how of 6 Cuban universities: Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas (UCLV) (Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas),Universidad de Pinar del Río "Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca" (University of Pinar del Río),Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas (UCI) (University of Informatic Sciences),Universidad "Oscar Lucero Moya" de Holguín. (University of Holguin),Universidad de Camagüey "Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz" (UC) and the IUC Partner universityUniversidad de Oriente (UO).
