Project

SECEMIN: SElf-healing CEmentitous and MINeral building materials. (IWT509(SIM1))

Aim of the current project is to develop new routes and to further elaborate on concepts that are at the moment studied by some of the project partners at a fundamental level, for autonomous self-healing of cementitious and mineral building materials. Part of the foreseen valorization of this SBO is already incorporated in the SHE program, by means of two ICON projects.
Important objectives are herein:
-to regain impermeability of the material and as such safeguard the durability of the structure ("sealing")
-to restore mechanical properties of the material (strength, stiffness,...) as far as possible ("healing")
-to limit crack width of building materials in order to facilitate self-healing
