Project

Automated detection and classification of spilled oil of ships with the aid of hyperspectral imaging.

The aim of the project is to perform a feasibility study on the use of hyperspectral imaging techniques to detect oil spills of ships. In particular, we will investigate if it is possible to perform an automated detection and classification of the spilled oil. This initial feasibility study will be executed with a fixed camera set-up. It supports the Port of Antwerp's goal to equip drones with automated oil spill detection capabilities.
