Low Power Ultrasound Location System for Secure Identification

Book Contribution - Book Chapter Conference Contribution

With the increasing interest in location-based services, secure indoor positioning has become a critical necessity. Intensive research has been done in the development of location verification techniques to verify a user’s position claim. However, most studies focus on resistance against various attacks and only little attention is paid to the search of low power solutions. In this paper, we present a simple low power location verification system. An ultrasound-RF Time Of Flight indoor positioning technique is applied to provide accurate location information about a low power mobile node. Location verification is guaranteed by emitting a Pseudo-Noise (PN) code, which has to be reproduced by the mobile node to prove physical presence.
