Background Field Formalism and Deconfinement Phase Transition in the Refined Gribov-Zwanziger Framework

We intend to variationally probe the interplay between the Refined Gribov-Zwanziger quantization with the vacuum expectation value of the Polyakov loop (which gives insight in the confinement of quarks and gluons). KU Leuven promoter David Dudal and candidate fellow David Vercauteren are presently working to improve the formalism that is used to combine background fields (such as the Polyakov loop) with Gribov-Zwanziger, based on the nonperturbative BRST symmetry recently discovered by David Dudal and colleagues. The fellowship would focus on the next step: inclusion of the dimension-two condensates of the Refined Gribov-Zwanziger framework, together with the space-time asymmetric condensates that will appear at the finite temperatures of interest.
