Sustainable use of acaricides in beef cattle: multi-disciplinary research into the effectiveness of communication strategies to stimulate the adoption of novel diagnostic tools.

Injudicious use of acaricides to treat mange in cattle has led to emerging resistance. An assay to detect acaricide resistance will be developed using a bottom-up approach, based on the farmers’and veterinarians’opinion of the ‘deal’diagnostic tool. These insights will be used to develop targeted communication strategies to promote the uptake of diagnostics and sustainable use of acaricides.
