Organisation profile:

The Rheumatology Department diagnoses rheumatic diseases and provides care to adult patients suffering from the autoimmune and auto-inflammatory rheumatic diseases. There are many different rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, connective tissue diseases such as SLE, scleroderma, Sjögren syndrome, myositis, vasculitis etc. Our clinical activities emphasize both common and rare rheumatic diseases.

In research we focus on clinical research related to long-term prognosis, cardiovascular comorbidity, osteoporosis and rehabilitation in patients with rheumatic diseases, in particular rheumatoid arthritis and SLE. We follow in a standardized way to better understand therapy responses and prognostic factors of disease progression and development of complications. We actively participate in observational academic (non-commercial) studies and commercial (new treatments) studies with aim to improve care and treatment strategies.

Our team is committed to providing training for medical students, residents and fellows.
