Language awareness in the multilingual classroom and school: a review study.

The review aims to provide teachers and head masters with a conceptual framework for the practical application of language awareness activities in the classroom as well as the integration of these activities in an overall language policy for Flemish schools. On the one hand, this study reviews relevant descriptive and experimental studies.On the other hand, Flemish and international experts concerning language awareness will be interviewed. Effects of language awareness programs and activities as well as inspiring examples that allow teachers and school teams to perform efficient and effective language awareness activities will be presented in an attractive booklet. A scientific report will provide more background information and support guidelines for school counselors and teacher trainers.
