Project

PATHACOV (PATHACOV)

Today, the detection of serious diseases such as lung cancer relies on recording the onset of clinical symptoms of the disease in which a radiological anomaly is detected as part of a lung disease (lung infection for example). The support of patients requires the introduction of sometimes complex care paths in specialized centers that are mainly located in large cities with heavy image processing equipment such as CT scan. Inequalities in support and care pathways, especially in disadvantaged populations, exist in our areas. The diagnosis is often made too late, resulting in heavy treatments, and a significant excess mortality in our areas.

For the future we propose to identify specific markers of lung cancer in the breath of risk patients to be able to realize early detection of the development of these cancers. The multidisciplinary approach of our project allows us to combine the skills in physics, chemistry and electronics to eventually produce a simple, cheap and non-invasive device suitable for all population groups and usable by all health actors in our areas. We want to "reverse" the patient's agony with the help of all actors involved in health in our areas (doctors, nurses, patient associations, private and public partners who are simply moving to the patients' home environment, local governments, health insurance funds ...) and train them in using this simple device for early warning.
