Our finite mind: Aquinas on the limit of the capacity of human intellect and will

This project is about Aquinas's sophisticated theory of the human intellect and will, in particular, their capacity and function for achieving happiness. Unlike previous studies, this one stresses the importance of studying the functioning and interplay of the human intellect and will in various extreme conditions, e.g. the pre-fall condition, which will be contrasted with the post-fall; the blessed condition, i.e. when the human intellect is blessed in heaven, and the damned condition, i.e. when it is damned in hell. The point of this study is to approach a fuller picture of Aquinas's sophisticated theory of the human intellect and will that reveals what Aquinas thinks is the limit of the capacity of human intellect and will, and see how Aquinas's theory of the human intellect and will features in his philosophizing on various Christian doctrines.
