Dynamic response in tunnel and free field due to moving underground trains

Journal Contribution - Journal Article

Based on the invariance or periodicity of the tunnel-free field dynamic interaction system in the direction of tunnel axis, dynamic response in the tunnel and free field induced by moving underground trains is presented in the frequency-wavenumber domain. Using the Fourier transformation and the Floquet transformation, the vibrations induced by passage of underground trains can be calculated if the transfer function in the frequency-wavenumber domain and the moving loads in the frequency domain can be obtained. The transfer function is calculated using the three-dimensional coupled periodic finite element-boundary element model in the frequency-wavenumber domain, and the moving loads are considered as the contact forces between wheels and rail due to the rail unevenness. The dynamic response in the tunnel and free field between Dongdan station and Jianguomen station on line 1 of Beijing metro is calculated to verify the good applicability of the method.
